Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh Backs Rita Paniagua for Re-Election as Syracuse Common Councilor At-Large
SYRACUSE, NY — Mayor Ben Walsh has officially endorsed Rita Paniagua for re-election as she seeks her second term as Syracuse Common Councilor At-Large. Paniagua is one of three candidates running in the June 27th Democratic Primary for this position.
"Throughout her tenure on the Board of Education and her current role as Common Councilor At-Large, Rita Paniagua has consistently prioritized the well-being of our community. Rita is a dedicated advocate for our youth and the arts, and her collaborative and proactive approach is truly inspiring," Walsh said. "She leads with compassion and bravery, always ready to lend a helping hand. I am proud to endorse Rita Paniagua for re-election as Common Councilor At-Large."
Paniagua, who currently serves as the Executive Director at the Spanish Action League of Onondaga County and has been actively involved with the New York State Puerto Rico/Hispanic Taskforce, brings a wealth of experience to her role. In 2015, she was elected as a Commissioner of Education for the Syracuse City School District and subsequently elected to the Syracuse Common Council as a Councilor-at-Large in 2019. She also serves as the Chairperson of the Common Council Committee on Education and Human Development.

The Primary election will take place on June 27, with early voting available from June 17 to June 25. Registered Democrats residing within the city of Syracuse are eligible to participate in the June election. More information on early voting can be found HERE
