Hispanic Heritage Rocks!

Syracuse, NY - For the next four weeks, during Latino/Hispanic Heritage Month, our communities will join in this annual special celebration of our cultures, our many voices, stories, proud history, and traditions. At La Casita, we do that every day of the year, and this year especially, as it marks our 15th anniversary. We wish to recognize and express our heartfelt thanks to the extraordinary community of artists, scholars, educators, families and friends who have been part of this journey. Our pledge is to continue to honor the past while celebrating the present and planting seeds for the future.

Join us this month to reflect, celebrate, and strengthen the bonds that unite us as a community and to celebrate 15 years of La Casita!

Anniversary Events:

Saturday, Sept. 19, 6:00pm

La Casita’s new exhibit opening: Sueños de Quinceañera/Quinceañera Dreams.

Thursday, Oct. 22, 6:00pm

Argentine American author Yamile Saied Méndez presents a talk about her quinceañera inspired books Dreaming of a Quinceañera and Twice a Quinceañera.

Both events are free, open to the public and are part of the 2026 Syracuse Symposium on Dreams.

For Lizeth Ortega, Mara Criollo-Rivera, and Shakira Santos, La Casita became part of their journeys at different moments in their lives.
